Workshops by Design
The World Economic Forum
What are the best practices and tools for designing and executing engaging, productive workshops with a future focus? The World Economic Forum’s Precision Medicine Team approached Worldview Studio to co-design a workshop to test genomic data policies and subsequently to help improve experience design capacity across the WEF San Francisco Centre.Â
Â
Worldview and WEF initially co-designed a one-day session for stakeholders from multiple countries aimed at advancing ethical genetic data policies, especially in less-developed nations. Building on that, we designed and delivered two experiential onsite trainings. The first covered foundational workshop design principles, archetypes, practices and skills. The second focused on foresight tradecraft, including developing scenario vignettes. To help implement and share this learning throughout the Centre and WEF, we created extensive digital guides to basic and vignette workshop design. These included diagnostics, frameworks, checklists, alternative designs, sample agendas and templates, and facilitation tools and tips.Â
