Reducing Bias in Policing
How can social psychology research help police officers interact more respectfully and effectively with the public? The Oakland, CA Police Department and Stanford SPARQ (Social Psychological Answers to Real World Questions) collaborated on ground-breaking field research that identified simple interventions--in words and tone–that could improve public safety, community, and relations.
The Worldview Studio team* worked with SPARQ and OPD to produce two training videos–scripting, filming, visuals, editing– that translated the research into concrete recommendations for what to say, how, and why. The well-received videos have been integrated into a broader procedural justice training curriculum.
